Wisconsin Montessori Association is proud to collaborate with the Montessori Institute of Milwaukee to bring an elementary assistant workshop to Milwaukee. The workshop will be given by Carol Hicks, an AMI trainer, on August 29th and 30th, from 8:30 to 4:15, at the Montessori Institute of Milwaukee.

In this two-day workshop learn about the principles and practices that guide the Montessori elementary classroom. Come to understand why the Children’s House (3-6 years) classroom is so different than the elementary classroom.  Find out how children can come to work independently even on very complex ideas.  Learn how the team of adults work together to support the children.

This workshop will provide a basic understanding of Montessori theory and practice as well as practical information about working with children in a Montessori classroom.  It will focus on children from 6 through 12 years of age.  The information will be beneficial for not just assistants, but also for specialty teachers such as music, art, physical education, special education, etc. as well as for administrators.  There will be a varied format of lectures, videos and discussion.

Classroom teachers are encouraged to join us so they are aware of what the assistants are learning.
